The Artist- In- Residence -2010

ArtGroup International has established The Artist Residency 2010  for the purpose promoting international exchange and collaboration amongst the artists, galleries and art institutions of different countries. The Artist Residency 2010 aims to enable the artists a valuable cultural experience while living and create in an environment outside their own country;  To encourage the creation and production of new works and sharing of expertise and to allow international exposure for emerging artists.

ArtGroup International will cooperate with private galleries and institutions to join as partner/sponsor to propose candidate artists from abroad – preferably with a view of working together with the artists during their staying in Penang on projects related to Art International Penang 2010- to be held in July.  Related activities include exhibition, workshop, public talk, and forum. Based on the proposals submitted, the management of ArtGroup International will decide whom to invite.

Each partner/sponsor will take care of 2 resident artists. Each resident artist will be provided accommodation, studio for working and all meals at no cost. Travel and material costs are the responsibility of participating artists.

In the case of a residency outside of Penang or Malaysia, it is up to the applying institution or individuals to find accommodations and studio space for the artist, subsequently financed by the program sponsor within an economic framework agreed upon in advance. The program does not cover the accommodation or expenses of accompanying family members.

Application deadline for Artist-In- Residency - at least 6 months before the date of residency
